When parents have their first newborn baby girl it is a life-altering experience. That little infant girl is often so beautiful and there’s a temptation to go out and buy dozens of beautiful clothes to dress up this little princess. But an infant baby girl grows incredibly fast. Here is what parents need to know when buying newborn baby girl clothes.
Buy Only What Is Needed For The First Few Weeks
A baby girl will completely outgrow their clothes within the first few weeks of coming home from the hospital. Parents will very often go out and buy a couple of dozen outfits out of excitement for dressing up their newborn. They need to know, however, that the clothes they buy will be completely outgrown in a few short weeks.
Some of the most essential clothes that will be needed are things like bibs, one-piece clothes, gowns, booties and socks, and lots of t-shirts. Caps will also be necessary when going outside for the newborn baby. One of the things that will be most needed is t-shirts.
Of all the clothes, these will get the most abuse. The newborn baby girl will wipe its hands on the T-shirt, will throw up and spit up on the t-shirt, and have all kinds of various accidents.
Most parents will find it very convenient if they have 7 to 10 t-shirts for the new born baby. The reason is that most days will require more than one t-shirt. In fact, it won’t be uncommon to have to change t-shirts 3 or 4 times during the course of any given day.
Having to constantly wash t-shirts is just not practical. Having 7 to 10 or even up to a dozen t-shirts will simply be most convenient. It means that a parent can go a couple of days between washings or at the very least, can wash once a day and still have enough tee shirts.
Other clothes will receive far less abuse and for this reason, parents do not need to buy so many of those. It may be a beautiful, adorable dress, but remember that the newborn baby will only be able to wear those clothes for a few weeks. So no matter how beautiful or cute the dress is, it’s only going to be usable for a few weeks and then either need to be tossed or given away.
When parents buy clothes they are advised to keep the tags and receipts for all items. It is very common that some clothes will never be worn and the parents may well want to try and return those for a refund. Not all places will refund but many will. This is a good practice for the clothes bought during the first few weeks of a newborn’s life.
The main thing to remember when buying newborn baby girl clothes is to buy what is needed and resist the urge to buy more. In just a few short weeks parent will be able to go and buy more clothes that fit the baby at that time. Following this simple guide will help any parent with buying clothes for their newborn baby girl.
